How to stay motivated in your business- when you’re not seeing results
Posted in Blog

When you’re not seeing the results that you want to as a new business owner, it’s really easy to get discouraged, to want to give up and to just stop working. Then comes the part where you compare yourself to other business owners. You look at the progress that they’re making, the success that you see that they have and you wonder why that can’t happen for you. And you start to question if there’s something wrong with you.

Well, there is nothing wrong with you. What you need is a plan and a strategy to help you to implement that plan. In fact, what you need is the entire foundation. You need to have clarity so you know what your end game is, you need to have the confidence to think big and take action, you need to have a step-by-step plan so that you know what to do and you need to have the strategy to implement that plan. But what does that mean in practice?

Get some clarity
For example, on the face of it, this post that I posted on 7 December got 12 likes so that might not seem like a good result. However, when you look at the insights on 8 December, I reached 125 accounts (which means 125 people saw my post) and it resulted in 2 profile visits. So now 125 people are aware of me and 2 people were interested enough to view my profile

That’s my intention. To get people interested enough to check me out, visit my website, read my blog, download my free gift, book a consultation with me and then become a client. So it doesn’t matter to me if somebody doesn’t like my post or somebody doesn’t comment on my post because that’s not my intent, that’s not my overall purpose. My aim is to get them through those stages so they can get to know me, get to know what it is that I offer, so that they join my email list, book a consultation with me and then purchase a service from me. So it’s sometimes really useful to think about the end result rather than the action that you’re taking.
So keep your mind focused on what the goal is that you’re trying to accomplish because the reality is, that you’re not just posting on social media just to get likes and comments. And if you are, that’s probably not the right approach to take because that does not translate to money in your bank account, getting clients on the phone or help you to sell your products.
You have to go deeper behind the intention of your actions. If you’ve taken my goalsetting course then you know I talk to you about the difference between a goal and an action, and why it’s really important for you to understand the difference between the two, so you know how to set those powerful goals for yourself.
Because if you focus on the action steps, posting on social media, and your measure of success is likes and comments, you’re likely to want to just quit and give up. Instead, take a step back and ask yourself; What the overarching aim is. In other words, what’s the purpose of you posting on social media? What is the strategy that you’ll be implementing to achieve that goal? Because everything about being in business is a test, there is no one size fits all, there is not just one thing that you can do as a business owner to be successful. There are many things that you can do. And what’s right for you depends on what type of business you have, what social media platform you’re using and what your preferred method of communication is.
